Lucas Mitchell holds down the mandolin playin of the group. Luke grew up in the small town of Americus Kansas where he started his musical life as a tenor and baritone saxaphone player through his school years before making the leap to stringed instruments.  Luke also plays upright bass in the band Blue Root and banjo, dulicmer, and autoharp in the B-Town String Band when he is free from his Highwater duties.
