I use a Barcus-Berry pickup, D’Addario Helicore strings. I'm not sure what the kind of fiddle I have. Whatever sounded nice at Steve Mason Luthiers’. I like Dunlop Ultex picks for my Blue Ridge geetar, and I have a Kyser capo in Breast Cancer PINK.
Susan “Sweet Sue” Gibson plays the fiddle for the Highwater String Band. Classically trained as a violist, she also plays piano, guitar, bass, and (just a little clawhammer) banjo. After spending years in an orchestra pit, she discovered Old Time Fiddle Music in 2001, and the rest, as they say, was history. She spent the next several years playing at local fiddle jams, and even for a few contra dances. It was way more fun to play when people were dancing! During that time, she met up with some great local musicians such as Steve Mason and Cindy Egger, and played with the St. Nicholas String Band. She and Luke met in 2005, and the fun began when Old Time met Bluegrass in Belton , MO. Susan still likes to play fiddle tunes, but loves the challenge of bluegrass! When she is not playing with Highwater, she is busy being an audiologist, a wife, and a mother.
